A new entry for the UAE Rugby Community League Competition – Barrelhouse Rugby Club!

Barrelhouse Rugby Club, which was established in 1982, is set to join the UAE Rugby Community League for the 2018/19 UAE Rugby season and beyond. Having spent the last three decades as a predominantly 7s and 10s social rugby team in Dubai, the famed pink jersey will be entering the league with a Men’s team for the first time.

It has been a busy couple of years for the Club, who launched the Barrelhouse Rugby Academy for youth rugby players last year, as well as introducing their own annual 10s tournament to be held every April. The 2018 tournament, the Barrelhouse Rocktape 10’s, is planned for Friday the 6^th of April, where both a Men’s and Vet’s day tournament will be played out at Dubai College. The community based competition will be a family friendly day with activities, food and drinks for teams and supporters.

“I have been a member of Barrelhouse since it’s inauguration and I couldn’t be prouder of our achievements in the last few years. We’ve launched the Academy, an annual tournament and winning the Gulf Men’s Social tournament at the Dubai Rugby 7s last year was the greatest feather in our bow to date. The size and strength of the club, now with over 400 members, meant that the time was right for us to step into the Community League with a 15s team,” said Andrew Stanley, Chairman of Barrelhouse Rugby Club.

The Boys In Pink – Dubai Barrelhouse RFC were established in 1982 by a few expats here in Dubai. Since then they’ve had representatives from all over the world competing in the strikingly pink jersey!
