Coronavirus Causes Further Rugby Cancellations In The Gulf
One of the highlights of the season for the Al Ain Amblers rugby club and many other youth rugby teams around the Gulf, is the annual Mini & Youth Rugby Tournament held over in the Garden City.
Unfortunately, due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), the lock-down of hotels on Yas Island, the cancellation of the UAE Tour and the directive sent out by KHDA to all Dubai schools, the Amblers have decided to comply with these directives and put the health and safety of the general public at the foreground and therefore have cancelled their Mini & Youth Rugby Tournament which was due to be held at the club next weekend on the 6th and 7th March.
Director of Sport at the club, Rocco de Bruyn said:
“We do apologise for any inconvenience as we know many parents have made hotel bookings for the event, but we feel this is the right thing to do.”
Other rugby cancellations in the region saw the Abu Dhabi Harlequins away fixture to West Asia Premiership league leaders, Bahrain cancelled this weekend and is due to be rescheduled for Friday 13th March.
