Senior Citizens Football Championship
The Senior Citizens Football Championship concluded at Al Maryah Active in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
As part of a Community Partnership Agreement between the UAE Pro League, Mubadala Investment Company, the Authority of Social Contributions, and the Family Development Foundation (FDF), a unique football event brought senior citizens together to promote health, fitness, and community connection.
The two-day tournament featured eight teams, with each team comprising 10 players aged 60 and above. The event wasn’t just about football—it was a celebration of the contributions and vitality of senior citizens in UAE society. It aimed to inspire active, healthy lifestyles while addressing common health challenges faced by older generations.
The closing ceremony, attended by Abdulla Nasser Al Jneibi, Chairman of the UAE Pro League, honored the top three teams for their outstanding performances, capping off a memorable event.
This championship is part of a broader collaboration launched in October 2024 when Mubadala became the official partner of the UAE Pro League for the 2024-2025 season. Together, they’ve introduced several community-focused initiatives designed to promote inclusivity and enhance well-being across diverse demographics.
The Senior Citizens Football Championship shows how sport can positively impact lives, improving both physical and social well-being while highlighting the importance of supporting senior citizens in staying active and engaged within their communities.
